Sleep Under the Stars

Shelter Sites

Crows Nest Ranch offers tenters a handful of open shelters opposite the RV sites. Each shelter is on a raised concrete slab, and includes a picnic table and plenty of space to spread out.

All shelter sites are grassy and surrounded by oak and pinon.

Oak Grove Tent Sites

The oak grove beside the Gallery is sometimes available for tent camping.  While there are no shelters, there are several picnic tables and open spaces for tents.

Need electricity? Request this area.

We also have a popular single picnic table site in the oak grove behind the restrooms.

Shelter sites do not have electricity.

The oak grove site offers an electrical hookup for an additional fee. (Bring a long wire so you can reach it from your campsite.)

Out of courtesy to our stargazers and MacDonald Observatory, we do not light up the campround at night.  Bring your flashlight!

Showers and Restrooms

Clean restrooms with showers, plus a small laundry are located in the campground. All tent sites are near the restrooms, some closer than others.

Camping with small children? Request the picnic table behind the restrooms.

Water can be obtained elsewhere in the campground, but our tent sites do not have water faucets. Bring containers to haul your water to your tent site.

Ice is sometimes available for purchase.

Because this is a working ranch. we do not allow primitive or remote camping. All tents must be in the campground proper in an assigned site.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are under your immediate control at all times.
